Let’s try this out…
I’ve done a fair amount of writing in my career, but all strictly professional. I’m an older guy, so I grew up before all of this internet and social media stuff became the thing to do. I fully recognize that “putting yourself out there” is a double-edged sword.
On one hand, it is great way to market yourself as both a decent (or terrible) human being, but also as an educator/thought-provoker — someone with something interesting to say that others might find valuable or entertaining. I find this part fascinating.
On the other hand, the social internet has created a culture of cowardly anonymous aggression. It has given a voice (a megaphone, in fact) to those whose only goal is to tear others down with no fear of repercussion. By making this site and speaking my truths, I am putting myself out there for all to judge and critique (fairly or unfairly). This is the shit that scares me.
Luckily, I’m old enough now and have accomplished many things in life. The intrigue of what could come from putting my thoughts and teachings out there for any and all to see is enough to supersede my fears of the negative aspects of this endeavour.
So, let’s get to it. I’ll have some writings on technology and AI, but probably also some abstract editorial commentary on the state of the world we live in. From the words of my favorite super hero:
